Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton advance, Williams sisters lose at US Open

Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and the world's biggest tennis stars are squaring off in New York over the next two weeks

Clark comes off the bench, delivers: U.S. women roll in World Cup opener

It's been a fantastic week for the red, white and blue in New York so far. That continued on Friday as just two seeded Americans have been eliminated from the 2026 US Open.

The big wins kept coming as No. 20 Tommy Paul took down No. 15 Alexander Bublik in their third round match that went the five-set distance. Paul is looking for a career best finish in New York after previously reaching the fourth round twice in 2023 and 2024. He'll have his work cut out for him as he takes on No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, who is looking to go back-to-back at this tournament.

Elsewhere, No. 11 Frances Tiafoe earned his way back to the fourth round with a straight-set win over No. 22 Valentin Vacherot. Tiafoe has developed quite the reputation for deep runs at this event with two semifinal performances and now he gets the chance to reach the quarterfinal round with a win on Sunday against No. 7 Daniil Medvedev.

Plus, more upsets kept coming on the women's side as unseeded Taylor Townsend took down No. 15 Diana Shnaider in three sets to reach the fourth round for the third time in her career. The vaunted doubles player with three grand slam titles will have her work cut out for her if she is the reach the quarterfinals for the first time in her career as she take son No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka next.

And No. 26 Emma Navarro scored a big upset of No. 7 Karolina Muchova to return to the fourth round of this tournament for the first time since a semifinal run in 2024.

Keep it locked here over the next two weeks for our complete coverage of the 2026 US Open.
