Reed returned to wreck Oba Femi during his match with Bron Breakker as he joined back with The Vision



Sunday Night's Main Event was filled with drama, if not satisfying finishes in the biggest matches. The night's big winner was Randy Orton, who managed to escape his main event match with Cody Rhodes with a win, even if he was bloodied in the process.

Orton was battered and bludgeoned by Rhodes, but Rhodes couldn't pull the trigger when he had Orton down. Orton delivered a low blow to Rhodes -- and the referee -- to set up a match-ending RKO and steal the victory.

The other biggest match of the night saw Oba Femi clash with Bron Breakker with the title of "The Future of WWE" on the line, but the match did not reach a conclusion thanks to the return of Bronson Reed, who helped Breakker unleash a brutal attack on Femi.

Yachty survives Corbin, Williams regains United States title
Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty: The stipulation for the match was that if Yachty could last five minutes, Trick Williams would get a shot at Corbin's United States championship later in the show. Yachty hit Corbin with a cheap shot before the match and then attempted to run to help burn the clock. Corbin immediately caught Yachty and attacked, including taking out Yachty's entourage when they attempted to help him escape into the crowd. Yachty pulled a chrome kendo stick from under the ring and hit Corbin with it several times before Corbin took him down with a forearm. Yachty hit a huracanrana after more distractions from his entourage. Yachty then ran into End of Days with just over 90 seconds left in the match. Corbin continued the attack and hit End of Days again, and again chose not to go for the pin, instead seeking out a table. Corbin set up a table and went for a superplex, but Yachty hit a low blow and time ran out. Yachty still ended up going through the table when Corbin hit a choke slam. Corbin came out of this whole thing looking like an absolute fool as Williams came to the ring for the title match. Lil Yachty def. Baron Corbin by lasting five minutes. Grade: C-

United States Championship -- Baron Corbin (c) vs. Trick Williams: Williams immediately took the fight to Corbin, bouncing him off the commentary desk. Corbin continued to lose focus with Yachty at ringside, but eventually managed to take control back by sending Williams from the apron into the commentary desk. Corbin followed up by sending Williams into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Corbin delivered a series of elbows to Williams' head. Williams fought back but ran into a clothesline as Corbin continued to trash talk rather than pounce on advantages. Williams kicked out of a few pin attempts. Both men would eventually hit simultaneous clotheslines before exchanging some strikes from the knees. Williams hit a reverse neckbreaker but ran into a clothesline for another near fall. Williams hit a very bad "Book End" and fired up, only to run into a Deep Six from Corbin. As Corbin went to use his championship belt, Lil Yachty returned to grab it, nearly allowing Williams to get the win. Corbin then grabbed the belt and hit Williams with it but only scored a two-count. Williams flipped out of End of Days and hit a Trick Shot to get the win and take the title. The match wasn't very good and dragged on for what felt like forever. Williams is the United States champion once again. Trick Williams def. Baron Corbin via pinfall to win the title. Grade: C

Bronson Reed makes return in attack on Oba Femi, reunites with The Vision
Femi dropped Breakker with a big shot in the opening moments and Breakker powered out of the ring, walking around ringside until Femi left the ring and caught him from behind. Femi then lifted Breakker and dropped him on the ring apron. Breakker tried to roll back into the ring but Femi pulled him back out, only for Breakker to send him face-first into the ring post. Breakker lined Femi up for a running shot off the apron, but Femi cut him off with a huge chop to the chest. Femi clotheslined Breakker over the top rope and back to the floor. Femi wasted too much time clearing off the commentary desk, though, and Breakker attacked before hitting the diving clothesline over the desk. Back in the ring, Breakker hit a clothesline and started to grind on Femi along the ropes and in the corner. Breakker continued the pressure and drove Femi over the top rope with a clothesline, just as Femi had done to him earlier in the match. The two began to trade strikes, landing increasingly big shots before a Breakker German suplex that Femi took and exploded back with a few clotheslines. Femi hit several European uppercuts and then a chokeslam for a near fall before Breakker cut him off with a rake of the eyes.

As Breakker tried to run around the ring for a big shot, Femi countered with a shoulder block. Austin Theory then ran in, and when Femi took him out, it left him open for a Breakker spear. Breakker took Femi back to the ring and hit another spear, but only for a two-count. Logan Paul's music hit and he ran to the ring, where he was immediately ejected, but that allowed Maxxine Dupri to hand Breakker a pair of brass knuckles. Femi avoided the punch and tossed Breakker. Before Femi could do anything with the advantage, Bronson Reed ran in and hit him with a chair several times before hitting a Tsunami. Reed helped Breakker hit another spear and then Breakker helped Reed hit two more Tsunamis before another spear. Reed hit one more Tsunami before posing with Breakker as WWE officials checked on Femi. There was roughly no chance Femi vs. Breakker was going to end in a clean finish, so this was as sensible a way as any for the match to end, even if ultimately unsatisfying. Oba Femi def. Bron Breakker via disqualification. Grade: B

Cargill and The Baddies get past Flair, Bliss and Paxley as issues remain
Paxley quickly got the upper hand on B-Fab, and then took out the entire opposing trio. The numbers eventually took over, however, with Cargill bouncing Paxley off the ropes and into a forearm. Bliss got the tag to take over on B-Fab for a bit. Bliss was about to hit Sister Abigail but Michin caused a distraction that allowed for B-Fab to grab momentum. Cargill's squad trapped Bliss in the corner and worked her over. Bliss was able to make the tag to Flair, who came in and delivered a long series of chops to Michin, and then a somersault into a clothesline. Flair hit a headstand rana out of the corner for a two-count.

Cargill made a blind tag and nearly finished off Flair before Paxley made the save. Cargill tried to hit Jaded, but Flair reversed for a near fall. Flair tossed Michin back to Cargill and hit a moonsault onto both for another near fall. Chaos continued with all six women getting involved, but Flair and Cargill both legal. Flair was going for a figure-eight and Paxley attempted to join in, but Michin kicked Paxley off, causing her to collide with Flair, allowing Cargill to hit Jaded on Flair for the win. The match was clunky at times, and Flair and Cargill just don't have good chemistry together, but it served its purpose well enough. Jade Cargill & The Baddies def. Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley via pinfall. Grade: B-

Orton begs for mercy before delivering lowblow to score win over Rhodes
Orton attempted to sneak into the ring from the crowd but Rhodes caught him coming in and battered Orton around ringside and into the crowd. Rhodes hit Orton in the head with a garbage can and continued to attack in the crowd before Orton finally managed to fight his way back to ringside, where he threw Rhodes into the ring steps. Orton then spotted Brandi Rhodes in the crowd and walked over to talk trash to her before entering the ring, which allowed the match to officially start. Rhodes immediately hit a Cody Cutter and then locked in a Figure 4.

Orton was able to fight his way free and take over, working over Rhodes' midsection before dropping him on the top rope. Rhodes fought back, hitting several shots and then clotheslining Orton over the top rope. Orton responded by thumbing Rhodes in the eye before catching Rhodes again coming back into the ring. Momentum continued to swing back and forth before Orton twice dropped Rhodes on the commentary desk. Orton then lost focus again, walking to Brandi Rhodes to talk more trash before she threw a drink in his face. Rhodes then caught Orton going back into the ring, including hitting a big powerslam. Rhodes connected with a Disaster Kick and then jabs into a bionic elbow. Rhodes went for Cross Rhodes but took another thumb to the eye and ate a powerslam from Orton. Orton hit his hanging DDT and then set up to hit an RKO, but Rhodes caught him and hit Cross Rhodes for a two-count.Rhodes fought off more RKO attempts before crashing into the referee. With the ref down, Orton finally hit an RKO. Orton set up for a punt, which Rhodes avoided before hitting another Cross Rhodes.

Orton rolled out of the ring and then the pair crashed into the referee again on the outside. Rhodes continued to assault Orton at ringside, eventually hitting him with the ring steps, busting him open in the process. Rhodes hit a Cody Cutter from the top rope as the referee was still down. Rhodes hit another Cross Rhodes, and then another. Rhodes then set up for a punt but stopped when Orton put up a hand and begged him to stop. Another referee finally ran to the ring and checked on Orton as Rhodes couldn't decide to attack or not. Rhodes walked to the referee and Orton low blowed him and the ref at the same time. Orton then hit an RKO and the original referee re-entered the ring to make the three count. Ridiculously melodramatic down the stretch, but I'm not sure what else you can expect from Orton and Rhodes in this spot. Randy Orton def. Cody Rhodes via pinfall. Grade: B
